I can dig it! I, myself, am a huge fan of reclaiming terms and putting a positive spin on it. In a way, I can connect it to the Fault In Our Stars by John Greene (don’t hate me) and the specific quote that Augustus Waters said, “It’s a metaphor, see: You put the killing thing right between your teeth, but you don’t give it the power to do its killing.”
Keah Brown, original tweeter of the hashtag, reclaimed the word ‘cute’ and received an overwhelmingly positive response. Having a disability has also been synonymous with being less than, not beautiful, and pushing back against that is always a good thing, in my book.
